Western United vs Macarthur FC Fixture Update

Milligan Western United

The Australian Professional Leagues (APL) today announced that the A-League 2020/21 fixture between Western United FC and Macarthur FC will now be played at Leichhardt Oval in NSW.

APL Commissioner Greg O’Rourke said that the decision was made to ensure that we remain on track to complete the remainder of the A-League 2020/21 Season.

“Following Thursday’s announcement of the lockdown in Victoria, we have worked with Government and our stakeholders to find a solution that will enable us to complete the A-League 2020/21 Season.

“We have chosen to relocate the team to NSW and reschedule this match to Leichhardt Oval in Sydney having considered a range of issues and in line with the current Government restrictions.

“Western United FC will travel to Sydney and will be subject to tight restrictions as required by the NSW Government and the Leagues Covid19 protocols which will allow them to train and play their two remaining matches”

“We continue to work with both Melbourne City FC and the Newcastle Jets in relation to their outstanding fixture and will make an announcement once confirmed.

“With such a close finish to the A-League 2020/21 season, every match is important as teams vie for a place in the A-League 2021 Finals Series,” concluded O’Rourke.
