MACARTHUR FC have bolstered their football department with the appointment of former Socceroos striker Mile Sterjovski as second assistant coach to Ante Milicic for the club’s debut season in the Hyundai A-League.

In addition to duties with the first team, Sterjovski will also take on further responsibilities in the club’s youth league environment.

Macarthur FC coach Ante Milicic said: “I am delighted to strengthen our already talented football department by adding an experienced Socceroo in Mile.

“We have worked together for many years, both as players and coaches. It is a testament to the strength of this football club, and what we are building, that we are able to connect once again at Macarthur FC,” Milicic added.

Sterjosvki amassed 43 caps for the national team. A member of the Socceroos’ ‘golden generation’, he won the Swiss league competition with Basel in 2004/05. The following year he reached the UEFA Cup Quarter Final, also with Basel, before going on to play in the EPL with Derby County.

He is one of the few Socceroos who have played professional football in Australia – featuring in both the NSL and Hyundai A-League – while also experiencing top flight football abroad.

Post football, Sterjosvki’s footballing journey continued into the coaching realm. He joined the Socceroos’ staff alongside Milicic and Ange Postecoglou at the 2017 Confederations Cup in Russia and was also part of the Socceroos environment at the FIFA World Cup 2018 under Bert van Marwijk.

The appointment of Sterjovski adds further depth to the elite football environment being created at Macarthur FC.
