Sony Foundation Australia Announced as Bulls Charity Partner

Sony Foundation

Macarthur FC is delighted to announce Sony Foundation Australia (Sony Foundation) as the club’s charity partner for the 2020/21 season.

The agreement sees Macarthur FC recognised as a Gold Corporate Partner of Sony Foundation in the clubs inaugural A-League season.

The partnership will see a range of exciting club initiatives and fundraising opportunities for Macarthur FC members and fans to support.

The centrepiece of the partnership will be the feature of a Macarthur FC A-League match day, transformed into the ‘Sony Foundation Charity Day’. The day will feature exciting forecourt activations with plenty of opportunities for members and fans to support Sony Foundation.

To celebrate, plans are underway to develop a limited-edition Macarthur FC charity jersey that the team will play in for the day. Members and fans will have the opportunity to purchase the jersey during the season, through a special auction.

Sony Foundation, the charity arm of the Sony Group was established in 1998. Since then Sony Foundation has raised and donated over $35 million to support young Australians suffering from severe illness, with disability, or experiencing homelessness.

Sony Foundation’s Children’s Holiday Camp program (Sony Camp) is a unique respite program that sees high school and university students take on the responsibility for the care of children with disability, allowing their families to have a valuable weekend off.

Macarthur FC Chairman, Gino Marra, welcomed the partnership with the Foundation.

“I’d like to welcome Sony Foundation to the Macarthur FC family.

Our region is in the fastest population growth corridor in Australia, with many young families moving to the area each year. Supporting those families in our community with disability or battling cancer, aligns with the club’s community first mindset.” Marra said.

“We have all been affected by cancer at some point in our lives. The support the Sony Foundation provides young people is admirable.” Marra added.

Sony Foundation Chief Executive Officer, Sophie Ryan, expressed gratitude to Macarthur FC.

“Sony Foundation is grateful to have been chosen as Macarthur FC’s Charity Partner during their inaugural A-League season.

We are very excited by this partnership, and the opportunity to introduce the work of Sony Foundation, specifically our Sony Camp program, to the Macarthur FC community. The passion of sporting communities to rally behind a cause is powerful, enabling a partnership that is more than a financial contribution. We look forward to engaging Macarthur FC fans in innovative fundraising opportunities, and sharing the stories of incredible young Australians to empower those within the Macarthur FC community who may be facing similar journeys.” Ryan said.

“Sony Foundation looks forward to cheering on the Macarthur FC Team as they take to the field this December, and wish them the best of luck in their debut season”. Ryan added.
